“As the Clinical Director I feel that truly individualized treatment is a top priority. No one should feel that they are just a number or another client. Everyone has a story to tell and need to be in a place where they can safety share their story. Everyone needs to feel cared about. Psychotherapy is my passion and one of my core beliefs as a necessary element to long term sobriety. The disease of addiction cannot yet be cured, but I believe it can be controlled through intensive psychotherapy and use of a program of recovery, no matter what that program is. If you want to keep what you have got, you must keep doing what you were doing to get it. Recovery is no different that diet and exercise. If you want to lose weight or gain strength, you must follow a plan and keep doing it if you want to keep your results. This is not a program for people who need it, it is a program for people who want it. If you want it, I know we can help you. My passion is providing a treatment experience that is relevant and reality based. We are not perfect. No one is. So let’s learn what we can from this experience and apply it to your life so you can become the person you never knew you could be.”

Dr. Craig V. Smith, M.D. is a former organ transplant surgeon, who now dedicates his practice to addiction medicine. He received his M.D. degree from the UCLA School of Medicine. Dr. Smith then completed his general surgical residency at Harbor-UCLA medical center and his multi-organ transplant surgical fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh medical center. After listening over the years, pursuing self-study and continuing medical education in the field of addiction, in 2009 Dr. Smith decided to dedicate his career to addiction medicine.

Jon Heller’s career in Addiction Treatment began 20 years ago as a Psych Tech on a Hospital Dual Diagnosis Unit. While attending school at Pasadena City College he founded and created one of the first Addiction Resource Directories on the Internet, and for the next 8 years worked with treatment programs all over the country in helping educate the public and the profession about this new technology, as well as help them reach people and families in need through online resources. In 2007 Jon made the decision to re-enter the clinical side of addiction treatment, starting at the very bottom as an Overnight Tech and quickly moving through the ranks of Counselor, Program Supervisor, Program Manager and Director of Operations for facilities both large and small, for profit and non-profit. In 2017, Jon was introduced to Summit Estate and it was an immediate match. Having worked in the past with several of the Summit Estate team at other programs, Jon knew right away that the quality of treatment and level of professionalism would make for a great environment to continue his work of helping families find treatment.
As the Admissions Director for Summit Estate, Jon doesn’t just work the front lines, he is the front line. Fielding 15-20 calls a day from those seeking help and their families, Jon helps them navigate the questions and confusion that come with the process of getting admitted into a Drug and Alcohol Treatment Program. From the initial telephone interview to financial and insurance concerns to pre-assessment and engagement with the Clinical Director, Jon’s job is to help people get help.
