What is the 12 Step Recovery Program?a group of people join hands at a 12 step rehab center

Our 12 step program in CA embraces the 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous, which are as follows:

Step 1:

We admitted we were powerless over alcohol—that our lives had become unmanageable.

Step 2:

We came to believe that a Power higher than ourselves could restore us to sanity.

Step 3:

We made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him.

Step 4:

We’ve made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.

Step 5:

We’ve admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs.

Step 6:

We are entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character.

Step 7:

We’ve humbly asked Him to remove our shortcomings.

Step 8:

We’ve made a list of all persons we had harmed and became willing to make amends to them all.

Step 9:

We’ve made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others.

Step 10:

We’ve continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong promptly admitted it.

Step 11:

We’ve sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God, as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.

Step 12:

Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these Steps, we tried to carry this message to alcoholics and practice these principles in all our affairs.

The 12 step model has been around for over 70 years. Today, addiction treatment centers in California utilize the model in different ways, providing alternative approaches, yet keeping the same basic principles intact. The reason why we embrace the 12 steps is that our treatment specialists have seen the results.

Do You Have to be Religious to Participate in the 12 Step Program?

The answer is no; you do not. Or, you can embrace any religion you choose. Although it is clear that the program is religious-based, our 12 step rehab center gives individuals the freedom they need to explore their own beliefs and apply what they learn in their own way. You do not have to feel any pressure to conform to any expectations or feel like someone is judging you because of your own beliefs.

You can work with your treatment specialist to determine the best way to apply the 12 steps and the principles behind the program. The most crucial goal in our 12 step rehab center is to complete our plan through specialized addiction treatment therapies successfully.
